Demo night, great meeting

We wanted to thank all the companies that demonstrate their products at the Mobile Monday Boston demo night last Monday.

The next meeting of Mobile Monday Boston will be on June 18th at 7PM. Our topic is Mobile Location. Jeff Glass will be our moderator.

Jeff Glass, Bain Capital Ventures
As a partner at Bain Capital Ventures, Jeffrey Glass focuses on wireless, digital media and consumer marketing technologies. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Jeff was President & CEO of m-Qube, Inc., a Bain Capital portfolio company recently acquired by VeriSign Inc, in a cash and stock deal valued at nearly $300M.
Ivan Mitrovic, uLocate (WHERE)
Ivan is VP of Engineering at uLocate and is responsible for the existence of WHERE. Ivan boasts a breadth of wide ranging experience including the design and implementation of some of the world’s largest Financial Enterprise Applications for clients including Bank of America, Fleet, ABN AMRO, Nova Scotia Bank, CIBC and Sovereign Bank.
Ryan is in charge of Product Development for Skyhook Wireless which includes products like Loki and Loki Mobile. He is also the Chair of LocationAware.org and is an Invited Expert for the W3C Ubiquitous Web Applications Working Group.
Evan Shelby manages critical product definition and development strategy for Tele Atlas enhancement products and partner programs globally, including developer tools and Tele Atlas’ Map Insight system. Shelby joined Tele Atlas in 2006.
Ameesh has twenty years of successful sales and management experience in the wireless industry that includes Unisys Channel Partner Management, Regional Sales Management for the IDEN Group managing Nextel, and ten years at Verizon Wireless.
Amir is Director of Product Management at Nextcode Corporation. Nextcode is providing ConnexTo, the mobile code scanning solution that enables tourists to access digital content in the DiMO project.
After working in the architecture industry, Aaron decided to return to his Alma Mater to run the small tools lab. His current investigations delve into the relationship between technology and craft in fabrication and its role in architecture.
Ashley D’Ambrosio, DiMo Project
Ashley is a 3rd year BArch student. Being in architecture school, she tries to balance her other discipline, dance, in her spare time. Her other interests include art, photography and travel.
Matt is a 4th year BArch student. He is interested in urban environment, art, and history. He is also interested in studying the network of local’s favorite destinations being juxtaposed in a linear network.

Mobile Monday Boston meeting May 7th: Mobile Multimedia

Mobile Monday Boston is holding next meeting on May 7th at 7PM. Topic of the meeting is Mobile Multimedia with three great speakers from three different companies Chris Bondhus from NMS Communications, Philipp Negele from Verisign and Stephen Randall from LocaModa. - Chris Bondhus, Director of Product Marketing for Mobile Applications at NMS Communications, creates the overall marketing strategy for NMS’ solutions in the mobile applications marketplace.
- Philipp Nagele, Product Manager for Verisign and dedicated to the design and roll-out of music applications for mobile devices. He has been an integral part in the design of one of the first Java based music applications, deployed in Europe.
- Stephen Randall, founder and chief executive of Boston based LocaModa Inc., a technology company, dedicated to enabling mobile interactivity on out-of-home networks.

Last Monday we had our 1st year anniversary party. It was a great event with many people. We wanted to thank everyone for coming and also wanted to thank the companies doing the demos.

Yesterday we had our meeting at MIT on Mobile VoIP. It was a great meeting with a very interesting discussion. We had about 70 people and many questions for the panel.

What do hardware manufacturers like Nokia and ventures like Mobiboo, fring, and iSkoot stand to gain?
Join our panel of investors, practitioners, and experts to discuss this exciting topic in mobile.

- Bob Geiman – General Partner, Polaris Ventures. Bob is an industry expert on VoIP who sits on the board of directors of Bridgeport Networks, a leading provider of MobileVoIP applications and Fixex/Mobile Convergence software infrastructure, and is a former executive at MCK Communications, an early innovator in the field of SIP-based enterprise voice products.
- Nitzan Shaer – Entrepreneur-in-Residence, IDG Ventures. Nitzan founded and led the Mobile Product group at Skype Technologies. Nitzan joined Skype from Microsoft where he served as Senior Product Manager of Emerging Business for the company’s Mobile and Embedded Division.
- Timothy Jasionowski – Technology Director and Senior Technologist, Rich Media, Nokia Enterprise Solutions. Timothy is responsible for research and early-stage development of new Enterprise-class products in the real-time communication market, including Voice and Video over IP, Presence and Availability Management and Instant Messaging. Before joining Nokia, Timothy was Chief Technology Officer of Streamdoor (UK), an IP voice application services provider focused on Hosted IP Communication services, and Director of Product Incubation and Strategy at Qwest Communications, responsible for next generation product development.

- David Feldman – Managing Director, Feldman Advisors, LLC, a strategy and business development advisory firm. Feldman has served major mobile operators and wireline broadband providers, for whom VoIP is both a threat and an opportunity, and previously pioneered “voice over system software distribution” by recording the “Quack” beepsound included in every copy of Mac OS for about a decade in the 90′s.
